Great lock for securing secondary components like seat and front wheel on your bike. I live in Baltimore where bike theft is an issue, but not as bad as it is in bigger cities. The general recommendations are U-Lock your frame and rear wheel first, then secure the front wheel and seat with something like a cable or chain lock. I needed this longer length chain to secure my seat, and I use the shorter Abus steel chain lock to secure my front wheel to the frame. This may be a little bit of overkill, but it is not unusual in Baltimore to see locked up bikes with the front wheel missing, and I overheard a woman in my LBS who was coming in to buy a new seat because hers had just been stolen. These things can/do happen, and the harder you make it for thieves, the more likely the thieves are to pass you by for an easier target. Seats and quick-release wheels are easy to steal when left unsecured, and they are expensive to replace. A cable lock costs about as much, but is significantly easier to defeat than these chain locks. I like these Abus locks (this one and the shorter one) because they are a small investment for a lot of peace of mind.
